Y TEBOT PIWS (Emyr Huws Jones, Dewi Grey Morris, Alun Huws,Stanli Morgan Jones) were one of the first Welsh language bands to grab my fascinated attention as I, an immigrant from Ireland, struggled to learn Welsh from 1970 onwards.
Their hit song, 'Blaenau Ffestiniog', has been one of my personal favourites ever since and it has been part of my iTunes collection since I bought their CD, 'y gore a'r gwaetha o'r Tebot Piws' in 2009.
It tells of a homesick young Welsh speaker getting out of Swansea and heading home by train to his home town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, a place long associated with the slate quarry industry of former time.
This is no maudlingly sentimental homesick trip but a brilliantly comic account of a young person's mad dash for home.
This means, apart from getting away from basic lodgings, the delights of home and getting to meet old friends and new at the Wales National Eisteddfod.
That travelling event takes place during the first week of August every year and is a great place to be if you speak or are interested in the Welsh language and its speakers and singers...
Mae hi'n fraint i mi gyflwyno'r gan hon i wylwyr 'Youtube' gan nad oes neb arall, hyd y gwelaf i, wedi gwneud hyn eto.
Roedd cael gwrando ar 'Y Tebot Piws' yn y saithdegau cynnar yn un o'r profiadau a'm spardunodd i fynd ati i ddysgu'r Gymraeg.
Dwi'n ddiolchgar iawn am gael byw yng Nghymru er i mi golli Iwerddon...
