Pen-blwydd - Birthday by Matt Spry
Mae Owain yn 12 mlwydd oed heddiw. Mae e'n codi'n gynnar yn llawn cyffro ac yn mynd i lawr y grisiau i'r gegin. Mae'r teulu i gyd yno ac maen nhw'n canu 'Pen-blwydd Hapus' iddo fe. Mae pentwr o gardiau pen-blwydd ac anrhegion ar fwrdd y gegin. Mae e'n agor y cardiau'n gyntaf ac mae arian yn y cerdyn gan ei ewythr a modryb – 50 o ddoleri! Wedyn mae e'n dechrau dadlapio yr anrhegion. Gitâr gan Mam a Thad, gêm pêl-droed PlayStation newydd gan Mam-gu a Thad-cu, llyfr 'sut i chwarae gitâr' gan ei chwaer a het, sgarff a menig clwb pêl-droed Dinas Caerdydd gan ei frawd. Mae e wrth ei fodd gyda nhw! Mae Mam yn gwneud brecwast arbennig – wyau wedi'u ffrio, selsig, ffa pob, madarch, bacwn, tomatos, tost a bara lawr. Ar ôl brecwast mae Mam-gu yn dechrau gwneud cacen ben-blwydd ac mae'r post yn cyrraedd – mwy o gardiau a mwy o arian! Mae Owain yn treulio'r bore yn chwarae'r gitâr a'r gêm newydd ac yn meddwl am sut i wario'r arian.
Mae'n ddiwrnod braf felly mae'r teulu yn penderfynu mynd am dro yn y prynhawn. Mae Mam-gu yn aros cartref i orffen y gacen ac mae Tad-cu yn aros cartref i bendwmpian yn y gadair freichiau o flaen y tân! Maen nhw'n gyrru i'r mynyddoed ac yn treulio tua dwy awr yn crwydro o gwmpas. Ar y ffordd adref maen nhw'n mynd i'r archfarchnad - mae cwpl o ffrindiau Owain yn dod draw am 5 o'r gloch i wylio fideos, chwarae gêmau ar y PlayStation, chwarae cerddoriaeth a bwyta ac maen nhw eisiau cwpl o bethau. Maen nhw'n prynu pitsa, bara garlleg, creision, jeli a hufen iâ. Maen nhw ar fin gadael yr archfarchnad ac mae Mam yn cofio rhywbeth – mae hi angen prynu canhwyllau ar gyfer y gacen ben-blwydd! Mae hi'n rhuthro yn ôl i'r siop ac yn prynu bocs o ganhwyllau.
Am 5 o'r gloch mae ffrindiau Owain yn cyrraedd – lot o hwyl, lot o chwerthin a lot o fwyd, gan gynnwys y gacen. Cacen siocled. Hoff gacen Owain! Mae Mam yn cynnau'r canhwyllau, mae pawb yn canu 'Pen-blwydd Hapus' unwaith eto ac mae Owain yn chwythu ar y canhwyllau ac maen nhw'n diffodd. Am 9 o'r gloch mae ffrindiau Owain yn mynd adre. Mae Owain wedi blino'n lân ond mae e'n hapus. Mae hi wedi bod yn ddiwrnod hir ond yn ddiwrnod da. Mae e'n mynd i fyny'r grisiau i'r gwely ac wrth fynd i gysgu mae e'n edrych ymlaen at ei ben-blwydd yn 13 mlwydd oed flwyddyn nesa.

Pen-blwydd - Birthday by Matt Spry
Owain is 12 years old today. He gets up early full of excitement and goes downstairs to the kitchen. The whole family is there and they sing 'Happy Birthday' to him. There's a pile of birthday cards and presents on the kitchen table. He opens the cards first and there's money in the card from his uncle and aunt - 50 dollars! Then he begins to unwrap the presents. A guitar from Mum and Dad, a new PlayStation football game from Gran and Grandad, a 'how to play guitar' book from his sister and a Cardiff City football club hat, scarf and gloves from his brother. He is delighted with them! Mum makes a special breakfast - fried eggs, sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes, toast and laverbread. After breakfast Gran starts making a birthday cake and the mail arrives - more cards and more money! Owain spends the morning playing the guitar and the name game and thinks about how to spend the money.
It's a nice day so the family decide to go for a walk. Grandma stays home to finish the cake and Granddad stays home to snooze in the armchair in front of the fire! They drive to the mountains and spend about two hours wandering around. On the way home they go to the supermarket - a couple of Owain's friends are coming over at 5 o'clock to watch videos, play games on the PlayStation, play music and eat and they want a couple of things. They buy pizza, garlic bread, crisps, jelly and ice cream. They are about to leave the supermarket and Mum remembers something - she needs to buy candles for the birthday cake! She rushes back to the store and buys a box of candles.
At 5 o'clock Owain's friends arrive - lots of fun, lots of laughs and lots of food including the cake. Chocolate cake. Owain's favorite cake! Mum lights the candles, everyone sings 'Happy Birthday' once again and Owain blows on the candles and they go out. At 9 o'clock Owain's friends go home. Owain is exhausted but he is happy. It's been a long day but a good day. He goes upstairs to bed and as he goes to sleep he looks forward to his 13th birthday next year.
