Are there any Welsh/Welsh descendants in the Asheville, NC area?M

12/26/10 01:47:40PM, by Suzie Morris

Recently I emailed Arturo Roberts, editor of the Ninnau seeking information on a St. David's Society or Welsh group in Asheville, NC where I recently relocated. His reply surprised me. He knew of no organized group and in fact, replied: "we have few subscribers in North Carolina and only one in Asheville." This came as a great surprise, as I am aware of at least two annual Highland Games in the area. In particular, Grandfather Mountain has a very large annual gathering of the clans at...

Welsh Tartans

I'd like to know your thoughts about Welsh Tartans. I have read some discussions about them and recognize they are a relatively modern adaptation in relation to the ancient Scottish Tartans. But, I felt this would be a good forum to find out what you might know so any information would be appreciated. I coach youth rugby in southern California and wish to sport my cilt along with my Yr Driag Goch tattooed on my left shoulder on match day. Thanks for your thoughts.

Well done Nicole and Tom JamesBone of contention, would we be strong enough to go it alone, or should we stick to British strength and unity?I've no great feelings about it either way, as long as I was on the podium and there would need to be a Dragon up there somewhere, Id only compromise to the Jack so much.We certainly contribute way above proportion.Im not one of these who supports ANYONE playing England at sport, Saddam Hussein XI Vs England , go Saddam, no, not really, but a few of my...

Can you think of any colloquial monikers? - and more to the point why the names were given.I'll start you off:Will Piano - he was always cadging fags ( cigarettes ) " I've left mine at home on the piano"Dai rob the dead - He put his name on on a pit dram that someone else had filled -after the guy had dropped dead.Dai the bread was a baker who became successful and bought a posh car. He then became known as Dai the Rolls. As his social status increased he was awarded a peerage and became...
