And I wanted it to look like simultaneously a family meal (table set for four), a romantic couple's meal (only two plates with food) and an individual experience (only one chair right in front of the vantage out the window which I hoped would personally involve people in the picture), if that makes sense.

Thank you, thank you! And especially thank you for kindly not mentioning the power cord for the light behind the curtain on the right...I shot the original of our table (with my grandmother's linens and china) on a sunny day with light from a sky light above the table, the window on the back yard and a 26" china ball over the table with a 150watt bulb and two 500 watt shop lights in front of the table and half up. Then cooled the white balance in Studio Raw (open source photo editing), then dropped the saturation way down and softened the light in GIMP, cut otu the window and put that lovely wiki image of St David's cathedral in the window. I did each food item and the daffodils as separate layers with their saturation levels rocked up as high as possible and the colors altered. I was afraid the peas were too bright but I wanted to create that soft, romantic look with super appetizing food.

LOL...yeah we knocked a hole in the back wall so we could get a better view of the choich. Actualy this is all Gaabriel's work.... she did this for our 2007 St David's Day menu. We really did make and consume, all three courses on the menu though. Next year we might knock a hole in the side wall so we can get a better view of Carreg Cennen Castle.
