The Aberystwyth Bonewhelk was introduced to the Pacific Northwest by early European settlers. Now regarded as an invasive species, local wildlife preservation groups have encouraged the adoption of one of its few natural predators....the 'Whelkhound'.
Aberystwyth Bonewhelks normally have a chalky white colouration but as you can see the one pictured above is a bit green around the gills. These critters in their natural condition can give you a nasty nip. Who knows what this mutant might have been capable of.
It is largely as a result of fears concerning further mutations to our marine wildlife that residents of Portland recently voted by a 20 point margin to reject fluoridation of the local water supply. And they say we don't understand science...HA!!!!
The dog is pictured here with a large mutant Aberystwyth Bonewhelk which it dragged from a nearby sewer outlet
