Hi, Robin, Sturdee Rogers was a relative of Edward Owen's second wife Mary Rogers, who is here in this photo at left side of Edward. I am a great grandson of Edward from his first wife, Elizabeth Jones, who came to Patagonia in the Mimosa in 1865. Yes, Maes Llanes was the home of Edward Owen until he died in 1935, and you're right with the meaning of the place's name. I was for the last time in Maes Llaned in 1995 and as far as I know it is owned nowadays by one of Sturdee's daughters. Sorry, Im not speaking cymraeg (yet).

I visited Maes LLaned with Sturdee Rogers in 1988...he was rebuilding it for his retirement....are you familiar with this? Robin Jones, Toronto, contact me at shakelton@hotmail.com He told me that it was owned by Edward Owen...hence the name Maes (field) LLan (church) Ed...short for Edward....Yda chi yn siarad Cymraeg?
