Ray Milland took his acting name from the Neath riverside Milland Road, He starred in many Hollywood films including, Reap the Wild Wind, Her Jungle Love, Trading Places, Jamaica Rum, and The Man with the X Ray Eyes. He won an Oscar for his part in The Lost Weekend and was the first Welsh actor to receive an Academy Award, also for this role he became the first actor ever to win the Cannes Film Festival. He also directed and starred in the film Hostile Witness, and played the part of Ryan O Neals, father in the ever popular Love Story.
