01/18/17 03:58:59AM @meinir19:

I was the extremely fortunate winner of these two tickets to this wonderful concert at Carnegie Hall yesterday.  Thank you AmeriCymru and DCINY for providing me the opportunity.

As a child growing up in the Swansea Valley when the Aberfan tragedy struck, that day is embedded in my memory as if it had occurred just yesterday. As Sir Karl Jenkins stated, "it was like our JFK moment", we all remember where we were and what we were doing when we heard of the terrible tragedy, an entire generation wiped out, in unimaginable circumstances.

The opportunity offered me in attending this performance of Cantana Memoria For the Children is one I will always cherish. It is such a moving work, emotions from years past were brought to the surface and tears flowed freely as they did 50 years ago. The Conductor Jonathan Griffith, the soloists, the orchestra and the choral groups were truly magnificent.

At the conclusion of the concert we were all afforded the opportunity to meet Sir Karl Jenkins for an autograph signing session of his various CD's and his autobiography. The line was long and Sir Karl was generous with his time as we congratulated him on his marvelous work.

What a memorable evening, thank you again AmeriCymru and DCINY for your generosity. Diolch yn fair iawn, a llongyfarchiadau i Sir Karl Jenkins.
