@gaabi

I personally can't mention lovespoons without mentioning carvers Dave Western and Laura Jenkins Gorun, who are both AmerCymru members and lovespoon carvers and have completely unique styles.

Laura's site is here:

I think her spoons must be completely unique, I've never seen anything like them - she carves these amazing designs that are so delicate it's hard to believe it's wood - (image from her site)

I think Dave Western is probably THE North American lovespoon carver, probably the foremost carver and expert on lovespoons outside Wales. He created and donated lovespoons for us, alone and in collaboration with Laura Gorun and other artists, to support the West Coast Eisteddfod, for years. Dave's work is AMAZING, he's carved spoons for anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, spoons to remember lost loved ones by, one year he made his wife a spoon for their anniversary which was a bouquet of mixed flowers, life sized!

Dave is in British Columbia and he creates absolutely amazing works of art - his site is here:

Dave is the author of two books on lovespoons, T he Fine Art of Carving Lovespoons is one of the best, if not the best and most well known book on learning to carve lovespoons and I proudly own a copy. History of Lovespoons: the Art and Tradition of a Romantic Craft is an history of the lovespoon which Dave spent many years researching, including traveling to Wales and elsewhere to study and research examples of historic spoons.
