There was a time

when I walked barefoot

in the sun

stuffed my cheeks with strawberries

in the sun

jumped hay bales until I was seedy

in the sun

trespassed into unknown eddies

in the sun

forgot the grown-ups’ troubles

in the sun

became my lighter self for no one
