This story was done by the Providence, RI, Fox affiliate, which seems about right - Swansea is part of the South Coast region (which also covers New Bedford, Dartmouth [home to one of the 5 campuses of U. Mass.], Attleboro, etc.). I think it's very sweet that the library staff and patrons have rallied around Penny. The only possible problem she could cause is to people with allergies to pet dander, which I don't think qualifies as a disability. Most likely a complaint from one of the Butthurtz crowd!
Lovely. There's a book called "Dewey, The Library Cat" about a kitten found by a librarian in a small town in the US; someone had put in the late returns box and it was nearly frozen. The librarian looked after it and it brought people into the library who would otherwise have not visited. It's a sweet story (and true).

The "unofficial complaint" might have been filed by a computer mouse.

Me too! Got 4 legs and a tail....seems ok.
Unofficial "complaint" alleges the cat violates the Americans with Disabilities Act? Still pondering that one.
Cat gets library card in Swansea! ( Massachusetts )
