Among his many talents - and indeed he has many - John Cale impressed me with his translation of all three verses of Myfanwy into English - almost a word perfect translation which could still maintain the rhythm and the meter of the original. By the way - why do most recordings leave out the second verse - do they think the audience is too ignorant to know the difference? In my recent past, only Eifion Thomas has sung the second verse. Is this how we treat our classics?
I love John Cale's version of this very powerful song. He sings to the soul with 'angerdd' (passion).
