Katherine attended Dwr-y Felin Comprehensive School, Neath and received A grade passing 8 with distinction.
She was a member of Royal School of Church Music from 1990 1996 where she won the St Cecilia Award. Katherine was also a member of the Youth Choir of Wales for 3 years and was awarded a scholarship by The Pelena Valley Male Voice Choir for the most promising young star. She also won a scholarship at The Royal Academy of Music where she studied Italian, French, German and Russian graduating with Honours and receiving a music teaching diploma.
In 2000 Katherine became the Face of Wales and signed with Universal Studios the most lucrative recording contract in Classical Music history. Between 2004 and 2008, 6 out of 7 of the albums she recorded reached No1 in the classical album charts. She is the first cross over artist to have 2 number 1 albums in the same year, selling more than 4 million copies.
In 2007, Take Thats, Gary Barlow wrote the album Rejoice for her, it was released on 19th November 2007 and went strait to No 3 in the UK Pop charts.
Katherine is very proud of her Welsh heritage and continues to be a great ambassador for Wales with charities such as the Poppy appeal and through her music.
