Sydney Welsh Choir St David's Day Supper and Concert

Sydney Welsh Choir St David's Day Supper and Concert

Sunday March 1 2009, 2:30 PM
@ Carnarvon Golf Club, Nottinghill Road, Lidcombe off...
The event will begin earlier than usual, at 2.30pm, when the bar will open in the auditorium. The concert by the Sydney Welsh Choir with audience participation will begin at 3.00pm, and will be followed by a short speech by Aneurin Hughes and a toast to St David. The copious finger food should arrive before 5.30, after which everyone is free to mingle, chat, and even sing a few more songs if the situation demands. The choir is anxious that this celebration should be open to the whole Welsh community, so we have maintained an admission charge of just $15, which will not even cover costs.

"The spelling may be anglicised but the fairways are as green as Gwynedd and you can almost make out the castle ramparts and the jagged outline of Snowdonia. The choir, conducted by Viv Llewellyn, will sing a wide range of musical items, mainly in Welsh, and will lead the community singing. Aneurin Rhys Hughes, formerly the Ambassador for the European Union in Australia, will propose the toast to St David, and the audience will also enjoy a performance by the brilliant Harp Divas, Meinir Thomas and Karen Hickmott.
After the concert, there will be abundant finger food supplied and the chance for lots of conversation and socialising - not to mention an impromptu song or two.
Tickets for this event, food included, will cost just $15 per head, but the venue is limited in size and advance booking is essential. Please send cheques, payable to the Sydney Welsh Choir Inc, to Kath Armytage, 59 Caldwell Parade, Yagoona, NSW 2199 as soon as possible to reserve your place."

This is always a VERY SUCCESSFUL event every year so get your tickets now !!!
