Act Now to Restore the Madoc Plaque!
We have received the following message from Janice Gattis of the Alabama Welsh Association. We appeal to everyone who has the chance to email in support.
The Resolution #HJR 309 was introduced into the AL House yesterday which is regarding the Prince Madoc plaque restoration on Mobile Bay Resolution. I need all of you, especially those living in Alabama, to contact the Representatives and Senators so we can get this passed through both this time before time runs out again. I believe a email, phone call or letter from an abundance of people whether Alabamians or not it should get their attention.
Here is a website you can get email addresses, telephone #s and snail mail address for House Reps & Senators in Alabama. Let them know that you are part of the Alabama Welsh Assoc., or friends of the Alabama Welsh Assoc. which has members across the entire state. They are more likely to respond if they know your vote can hurt or help them.

It might even help if someone from the BBC contacted Birmingham News to get their take on this project by the Alabama Welsh Assoc. I cant seem to get any interest out of them.
Please take a look at our updated site www.alabamawelsh.com
Sincerely,
Janice Gattis
President Alabama Welsh Assoc.
Thank you so much for keeping up with this, I'm already on the move to send out my emails.
Alabama Sen. Tom Butler sent me this reply: I will vote yes.TOMThat's one!
I just emailed everyone on the list. Very timely for me, as I recently finished reading Circle of Stones and am now reading Circle of Stars by Anna Lee Waldo.
Good for you Jan. How I wish someone would investigate this thoroughly. But with persistence, we will manage to get there. Go for it Girl., Best................. BeeI would add that anyone who is interested in getting this plaque restoreed to Mobile Bay make strenuous efforts to contact their representative.
I remember reading a book many years back on the History of the Mandan Indians that lived in the upper reaches of the Mississipi River. A person traveling the Mississipi on a sternwheeler in the late 1800's who was a Welshman witnessed a First Nation Native rebuke a waiter in fluent Welsh on the condition of the soup he had served him. When the native was asked who taught him to speak Welsh? The native said no one it has been his native tongue for hundreds of years. Ask the Alabama State Rep's to read up this History, Merlyn.............
Diolch Mona. Gwych!
