Welcome to the latest news from Cardiff, where there aretop class events all year round.International sport leads the way in March. Wales tackle Ireland in the Six Nations rugby on 12th March, while England are the visitors to the Millennium Stadium on 26th March for a Euro 2012 qualifier . On a more relaxing note, the RHS starts its 2011 season in Cardiff in the magnificent Bute Park, with Cardiff Castle as the backdrop for the Spring Show from 8th to 10th April.
In May, Test cricket is back as England take on Sri Lanka in the first nPower Test at the Swalec Stadium from 26th to 30th May and at the Celtic Manor the Wales Open returns to the scene of last years Ryder Cup triumph from 1st to 3rd June. The 2011 FIM Speedway Grand Prix is at the Millennium Stadium on 25th June, with more motor sport in the shape of Wales Rally GB from 10th to 13th November. Cardiff leads the way for London Olympics
Cardiffs Millennium Stadium will see the first action of the 2012 Olympic Games two days before the opening ceremony, when four of the qualifying womens football teams will play a double header of group games. The stadium hosts 11 matches on eight dates in both the mens and womens football competitions, starting on Wednesday 25th July and finishing with the mens bronze medal match on 10th August. Maldron launches new Cardiff hotel
Maldron Hotels, Irelands largest hotel group, opens its first UK hotel in Cardiff in May. The 216-room Maldron in St Mary Street, will be Cardiffs largest city centre hotel, minutes walk from Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Central station as well as St Davids , John Lewis, Cardiff International Arena , Restaurant Quarter and Callaghan Square.
