The first students have signed up for a new, fast track course that will set them on the path to business greatness.
The Entrepreneurship Academy Wales is the first of its kind in Wales and is being endorsed by entrepreneur and Secret Millionaire Kevin Green, with further sponsorship support from Euros Jones-Evans from Telesgop, and Admiral Insurance.
The free, one year programme will lead to a BTEC qualification in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship and is open to aspiring young business leaders aged between 16 and 19.
Delivered from the Innovation Foundry at the Dylan Thomas Centre, the Academy promotes a philosophy of learning by doing that sees students work alongside successful business figures, attend masterclasses, undertake work experience and ultimately start their own businesses.
The first four students to enrol are Joshua Dykes from Pontardawe, Geraint Vaughan and Jade Jones from Pontarddulais and Marissa Bartle from Llangennech.
Although they have very different business models in mind, from event management and photography to art and property development, all four agree on one thing - that this is an exciting, once in a lifetime opportunity.
Its a great feeling to be among the first students to sign up for the new Academy as there are only 16 places available in total, says Joshua. Having the support and guidance of Kevin Green and the other partners is an amazing opportunity for us and we cant wait to get started.
I personally would have benefitted from an initiative like this when I was in school, adds Kevin. With a lot of hard work and passion, these students will go on to become the business leaders of tomorrow and Im very proud to be involved and to be able to lend my support from the earliest stages of the process.
Today is the realisation of a dream that has been three years in the making, says Sue Poole, Education Enterprise Manager at Gower College Swansea, which is delivering the Academy. We are passionate about inspiring the next generation of young entrepreneurs from across Wales and are delighted to work alongside our partners to develop the talents of these exceptional young people.
The Academy also has the backing of Cllr Mike Day and Cllr Mitchell Theaker, who both spoke of the importance of encouraging the development of skills, initiative and drive in young people.
The Academy will be officially launched in the presence of Edwina Hart AM on 8 October at the Innovation Foundry at the Dylan Thomas Centre.
Anyone interested in enrolling on the Entrepreneurship Academy Wales or becoming a partner should contact Sue Poole on 01792 284000 or email sue.poole@gowercollegeswansea.ac.uk

Details of Secret Millionaire Kevin Greens new Channel 5 programme have been revealed today.
Its all been very hush-hush and I couldnt even tell my closest friends what it is all about, Green said today.
But Channel 5 took the wraps off the pre-publicity campaign today and I can now reveal the show is going to be called Secret Interview.
Filming was carried out earlier this year we have been busy shooting at different locations in West Wales and beyond.
Green has plenty of TV experience, having been featured on Channel Fours Secret Millionaire and Skys The Devils Dinner Party.
He added: The Secret Interview will be unlike anything I have done previously.
The show will put eight unknowing people through an interview process they will never forget.
The unwitting candidates believe they are filming a documentary about their workplace. In fact they are about to have an interview for the job of a lifetime without even knowing its happening.
Each of them will be tested to their limits by a team of undercover actors intent on causing utter chaos.
Meanwhile, their prospective new boss, a giant of their industry, watches everything.
Conducting the Secret Interviews will be Kevin Green, Michelin starred chef Jason Atherton, the editor of womens magazine Glamour Jo Elvin and hair stylist to the stars Nicky Clarke.
For the candidates, its going to be the working week of their lives and every move they make could take them a step closer to a job with the Secret Interviewers that could transform their world.
In the first episode, two aspiring chefs go in for the ultimate cook off with a new recipe; one fake food critic, a sprinkle of nightmare food orders and a rubbish waitress to garnish.
In episode two, a pair of hopeful estate agents come up against bogus buyers and tenants from hell whilst having to remain calm and collected.
In episode three, a duo of helpless hairdressers try to impress with flying colours and not dull lowlights. But will a late bluffing bride and bogus bridesmaids push them over the edge?
In the fourth episode, a pair of fashionistas have to organise an impromptu promo party with 60 minutes to make it happen and work experience girls who hinder, not help.
Co-produced by Twofour and GroupM Entertainment, Secret Interview will air on Channel 5 later this month.
Ian Dunkley, Channel 5 Commissioning Editor for Factual Entertainment said: No one likes being interviewed but this show takes it to a new level. Our candidates dont even know its happening and that they are being judged by some of the biggest names in their field of work.
Andrew Mackenzie, Twofour Creative Director says: "This is one of the formats we're most excited by. It feels entertaining and timely, rewarding good people with a step up the ladder without them even knowing they're being cunningly tested."
Richard Foster, MD GroupM Entertainment said: From the moment we first saw this as a paper format we were intrigued by what the show could be, and what Twofour have brought to life is an absolutely captivating series.

I get up and work out in the morning and watch "The Daily Show" with John Stewart (best political news show in the US ;p) and this morning Quincy Jones' daughter, Rashida Jones, was on talking about her new movie, "Celeste and Jesse Forever," and when she first sat down, this was her exchange with John Stewart:

STEWART: "You have, it's such a beautiful and unusual name Jones tell me about that?"

JONES: "Weirdly, it's Welsh."

STEWART: "Is it really?"

JONES: "It is."

STEWART: "Interesting!"

JONES: "For a long time, I thought, because my father is an African-American, that it was, maybe, a slave name, that happens, sometimes. But it's Welsh! We're Welsh!"

STEWART: "I spotted the Welsh in you from "

JONES: (laughing)

STEWART: "Look how excited you are to be Welsh!"

JONES: "I know!"

and I found from watching this that, besides being an actor and writer, she's also created a comic book - she's now my favorite celeb!

The summer holidays have begun and Pont Books are delighted to introduce The Gardening Pirates to children across the country.

On board the bad ship Ych-a-fi , times are hard and cruel Captain Cranc forces the crew to eat horrible ships biscuits while he is fed on octopus pies and squid omelettes.

One day, the pirates land on an island and follow Captain Cranc in search of treasure. But when they find the treasure chest, there is no gold the chest is filled with seeds, bags of compost and gardening tools

Without anybody noticing, cabin girl, Gwen smuggles the treasure back to the ship and secretly plants the vegetable seeds in the crows nest so that the pirates can have delicious and healthy meals. How will Captain Cranc react when he finds out? And what about the mysterious seed sowed in Gwens hat?

Chris Glynns wonderful illustrations add visual humour to the text and bring the story to life. It is a story to gladden the hearts of all seafarers and gardeners as good triumphs over bad when eventually Gwen becomes captain and Captain Cranc becomes the cabin boy.

This delightful picture book is the brainchild of author Ruth Morgan who worked with her partner, Chris Glynn, to develop the story. Ruth is an experienced author of books for children of all ages, from picture books for toddlers to teenage novels. She currently teaches in Penarth where she also lives . . . and gardens although, unlike Gwen, Ruths kitchen garden is firmly based on dry land. Chris is BA programme director at Cardiff School of Art and Design, UWIC, and is well-known as an illustrator, artist and animator.

The Gardening Pirates is available from all good bookshops and online retailers
