If you want to know how many reports of UFOs, zombies and ghosts one Welsh police force has had in recent years, thank the Freedom of Information Act.

Dyfed-Powys Police is putting on its website the requests it receives under the Act, and the responses it gives.

It reveals 14 recorded UFO sightings in the past five years, along with 26 reports of ghosts, 11 witches - and two of zombies and vampires respectively.

But one zombie report turned out to be in a horror film being shot in Pembrey.

Shaftesbury date for Cor Meibion Llanelli

By Robert Lloyd, 2011-04-25

The hilltop town of Shaftesbury will be alive to the sound of music on Saturday (April 30) when Cor Meibion Llanelli (Llanelli Male Choir) pay a welcome return visit.

This will be the famous Welsh choirs eighth appearance in Shaftesbury.

Concert organiser Susan Ballett explained: They first came at the invitation of St James Church (down over the hill in the small parish of St James), in the late 1980s and have managed to fit in return visits every three or four years ever since to the delight of everyone who hears them

The concerts are always held in the Shaftesbury School, which is the only venue locally large enough to hold the number of music lovers who are always anxious to enjoy their very special sound.

Under the baton of D Eifion Thomas, the choir never fails to raise the benchmark even higher.

It is something of a tradition that the choirs visit sees the introduction of guest artistes - usually local students on the threshold of a musical career.

This year there will be two Daniel Bovey, who plays classical guitar, and Bryony Purdue, a soprano singer.

Tickets are priced at 12.50 and are available at Reynolds shoe repair shop at the bottom of Shaftesbury town, at Hine and Parsons opposite the Town Hall, or by ringing 01747 854294.

The concert begins at 7pm and there is plenty of car parking either at the school or in the immediate area.

Cor Meibion Llanelli musical director Mr Thomas said the choirs programme would include a mix of traditional Welsh items alongside songs from the shows and some Negro spirituals.

It really is a varied programme with something for everyone. We thoroughly enjoy our visits to Shaftesbury and it is a great chance to meet up with Welsh exiles who may be feeling that hiraeth or longing for their homeland of Wales.

G'day mate.

By Ian Price2, 2011-04-22

A bloke's wife goes missing while diving off the West Australian coast.
He reports the event, searches fruitlessly and spends
a terrible night wondering what could have happened to her.
Next morning there is a knock at the door and he is confronted by a couple of police officers, the old Sarge and a younger Constable...
The Sarge says, 'Mate, we have some news for you, unfortunately some really bad news, but, some good news, and maybe some more good news'.
'Well,' says the bloke, 'I guess I'd better have the bad news first?'

The Sarge says, 'I'm really sorry mate, but your wife is dead. Young Bill here found her lying at about five fathoms in a little cleft in the reef. He got a line around her and we pulled her up, but she was dead.'
The bloke is naturally pretty distressed to hear of this and has a bit of a turn. However, after a few minutes he pulls himself together and asks what the good news is.
The Sarge says, 'Well when we got your wife up there were quite a few really good sized crays and a swag of nice crabs attached to her, so we've brought you your share.'
He hands the bloke a sugar bag with a couple of nice crays and four or
five crabs in it.
'Geez thanks.
They're bloody beauties. I guess it is an ill wind and all that... So what's the other possible good news?'
'Well', the Sarge says, 'if you fancy a quick trip, me and young Bill here get off duty at around 11 o'clock and we're gonna shoot over there and pull her up again!'

Healing The Wounds charity moves to new HQ

By Robert Lloyd, 2011-04-21

Healing The Wounds, the Welsh charity which helps treat sufferers of PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), has moved into a new HQ.

The charity, which recently announced actor Michael Sheen as a new patron, now has an office and treatment rooms at The Enterprise centre in Bryn Road, Tondu, Bridgend.

The move to new offices takes the charity to a new level, said charity founder and Executive Director Kevin Richards.

Previously, we were working from home. Now, we have a professional office which will help us raise the charitys profile in the community.

The new office also has treatment rooms which will allow our trained practitioners to treat PTSD sufferers.

This work is crucially important to us as a charity as we have a waiting list of people who need to receive PTSD treatment.

We have members of the armed forces waiting for PTSD treatment and we also have people from the civilian sector of the emergency services.

At the outset, we always said that we would spread our wings and treat people from the armed forces (either serving or veterans) and people from the civilian services who have been left suffering from PTSD because of the work that they do on behalf of the community.

Our long term aim remains to establish a larger PTSD treatment and convalescent centre in Wales, but we do not have the funds for that at the moment.

Things have moved very quickly since we were first established as a charity and our immediate focus has to be on people rather than buildings. We certainly couldnt consider setting up a treatment room at home.

The new office has two treatment rooms and will allow us to continue the work we recently started with our first ever PTSD course, which was held at the Heronston Hotel in Bridgend. That course saw four people from the armed forces benefit from the treatment course run by practitioners trained by the Healing The Wounds charity.

Mr Richards added: Since we set up the charity, one thing has become clear the people of Wales want us to spend the money on the people who deserve it most. Those are the people who sadly suffer from PTSD because they have had to endure some terrible things all in the line of duty and service for their country and their local community.

Our key target has also been to make sure that these brave men and women are treated as close as possible to their homes. We are not like other charities which will quite happily ship people to other parts of Britain for treatment. We want people from Wales to be treated in Wales and as close as possible to the homes of their family and friends.

We have people on our waiting list from Newport, Swansea and Llandeilo. One of them is a serving member of the armed forces who came to our attention through his Lieutenant Colonel, so the word is getting out there that we have this great service we can provide for PTSD sufferers.

Our first ever treatment course in Bridgend was a great success and when you look at the transformation in the four guys we treated there then you start to appreciate how important our work is. It was great to see the guys so relaxed and at ease at the end of the course.

The charitys new HQ is Office 26, Enterprise Centre, Bryn Road, Tondu, Bridgend, CF32 9BS, telephone 01656 728281.

The Healing The Wounds charity was set up in December 2009 to help provide PTSD treatment for members of the armed forces and veterans. It aims to set up a Welsh base for the treatment of PTSD. It is already arranging treatment courses and building a team of counsellors who can treat PTSD.

West Wales brewer Evan-Evans has scooped a top prize at the International Brewing awards 2011.At the award ceremony in the Guildhall in the City of London, the Evan-Evans Cwrw brand was voted the Bronze Medal in Class 2 the Best Bitter category (cask ale 3.9-4.3 ABV).The competition attracts entrants from all over the world.Judging is carried out over two days, by 30 different Judges, all senior brewers in the industry. This year the head of judging was Bill Taylor, Chief Brewer of Lion Nathan, in Australia.Evan-Evans was one of only three prize winners from Wales out of 80 contestants from around the world.Simon Buckley, Evan-Evans Director, said:This is a tremendous accolade to be voted a Bronze medal winner in this the worlds oldest brewing competition. Cwrw is now identified as being one of the worlds top Best Bitters, and is certainly the very best beer of its type in Wales. To win a major prize on the international brewing stage gives us true recognition for the dedication of our young brewers and the whole team at the brewery in Llandeilo. This is a major award, and is a fine start to our celebrations as a family of 245 years of brewing in Wales.I am extremely proud of the teams achievements, and now see Cwrw as a brand that could quite easily become the National Drink of Wales.Evan-Evans this year starts off the celebrations of 245 years of family brewing with the launch of a new Heritage Brand which will come to market in May of this year. Two other Welsh brewers won awards at the event Purple Moose, Porthmadog, bronze for dark beer 3.8-4.7 ABV, and SA Brain, Cardiff, bronze for cask ale 4.4-4.8 ABV.For pictures from the event, see https://picasaweb.google.com/robertapvincent/BrewingAwards#

PLEASE HELP TO SUPPORT CRAPWIFE BY VISITING AND COMMENTING AT www.crapwife.com

The blogging blackout is finally over and My God I'm glad. Given that I don't do yoga, zumba or ganja, blogging is my only release. These last few days of inactivity have been torture. Instead of quietly blogging away and letting off steam, I have been gagged bytechnologyand Husband has irritated me to the extent that I've spent a week researching bear traps online.

It's been a really shit few days.
Husband is ill; He thinks he has the flu, I think it's a cold because if it was the flu he wouldn't be putting up martyr shelves in the hope of a sympathy shag.

If I so much as roll my eyes when he groans, sighs or sniffles he's straight on my case telling me 'it's dangerous to underestimate serious illnesses.' He claims that I taught him this last week, but I don't remember. He looks smug when he says it and I wonder if he's taking the piss.
He's right though. I should definitely should take his sickness more seriously. I decide to help diagnose him.
'Husband, are you cold?'

'Babe, I have flu, I'm boiling.'

Not hypothermia, then.

'Can you stand on up without pain?'

He can, so his legs aren't broken. I'm at a bit of a loss.

'Don't worry, Husband, I'll look up your symptoms on the internet.'

' DO NOT look up medical stuff on the internet. Stay away from WebMD. I forbid you.'
While flicking through WebMD I unearth a startling discovery.
'Don't do that face!'

'What face?' I ask.

'Your startling discovery face. You don't have whatever you think you have and you're not dying- don't start this again.'
Husband is being overly dramatic because I last year I wrongly diagnosed myself with prostate cancer and got a bit upset. It was ONE time and it's an easy mistake to make.
I tell him that this was ONE TIME and that he's a pleb.
'Babe, only last week you thought you caught hypothermia from the paddling pool...'
I'm too stunned to speak. It's worse than I thought. I have no idea what he's talking about. Husband is delusional already.
'What's that on your neck?' I ask him.

'A shaving spot' He's looking at me with suspicion.
'You've got that look in your eye. What have you read? Whatever it is, you don't have it, you won't get it and you're not dying- do not get the WebMD'noids, I can't be arsed with it, I've got the flu.'

He hasn't got the flu.

And he just called me paranoid. It's probably the fever talking.
I gaze lovingly at Husband for a full four minutes before he gets annoyed and goes to bed. I will miss him when he's gone.

Two hours into his coma I take him a bowl of herb soup.
'What's this and why have you got a tea towel over your face?' he asks, without as much as a thank-you.

'Protecting my face from hayfever.' he's too weak for the truth.

'Why is therepot-pourrioutside the bedroom door?'

'Because you smell.'
Husband doesn't question this, he knows that I think that men smell of poo. I bought some honey and almond showergelrecently and now he smells like someone shit on a toblerone.
Husband staggers downstairs after a 4 hour coma; I set off the bell sound effects app on my iPhone to alert the neighbours he's on the move.

'What are you doing? Why are you wearing your funeral dress?' he asks ( I suspect the end is near so I changed earlier to save time.)
'Why are you burning incense? It smells like a fucking opium den in here. Why have you turned the phone bill into a pot-pourri cone?'
I read online that in the 1400's burned incense and inhaled herbs to prevent infection.

'Why is there a red cross on the back door? How the fuck am I going to get that off.......?'
I haven't the heart to tell him that such things won't matter in the afterlife.

'Oh my fucking God. You're pretending I've got the Plague. Stop it. Be normal. Stop pretending I have the bubonic plague.'
I can't hear him because I'm deep in prayer.
'Wife, seriously- stop chanting, I'm not dying, you're not a grieving widow and I don't have the black death- it's just a fucking cold!'

Ha. I knew it wasn't flu.
