New Wales DVD--A Historical Tour of Wales

By Pam Slotsky, 2009-01-13
Robert Jones, a member of Americymru and a professor of languages--including Welsh--has just released a wonderful DVD. http://www.amazon.com/Historical-Tour-Wales-Robert-Jones/dp/B001LUH0FG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1231185593&sr=8-2 Product description from the DVD case:"Come with us on a historical journey of Wales as we travel from the Neolithic Era right up to the 21st Century. We make stops along the way in all the major eras of Welsh history: the arrival of the Celts, Roman Wales, the age of Saints, the Welsh Revolution, and the Modern Era. Along the way we visit historical monuments and places which have shaped the people and the land of Wales.Discover the beauty, magic, and majesty of this ancient Celtic country!"I've watched the DVD several times and it is a must-see if you have interest in any aspect of Wales. I've been studying the language for several years, have been to Wales and am very involved a local Welsh group. Yet I still found many things of interest and learned more about the history and culture of this beautiful country. The photography is beautiful and listening to Welshman narrate brings alive the subject matter. But it is the overview of the different periods of history that make this worth watching. Robert Jones' presentation of the subject is easy to follow and the visits to relevant sites help cement the information.I watched this DVD with some non-Welshophiles and they found it just as enjoyable as I did.
