Llansteffan Castle from Ferryside
Commanding the estuary of the Tywi in Carmarthen Bay, Llansteffan Castle was always on the front line during the Norman/Welsh wars. The castle was one of the first to be taken by Rhys ap Gruffydd, when in 1174, at the age of 14, he took it with his elder brothers Cadell and Maredudd. From 'Beloved Tywi'.
