We were fortunate to live in the outer courtyard of Plas Dinefwr for over six years around the time of your photo at the round tower. There were very few visitors to Parc Dinefwr until the recent grant award and subsequent upgrade. It was an unique opportunity to be in such an historic place for us as a family and for me as a photographer. I was inspired to photograph the entire Tywi valley and to make the first ever book about it.This image was taken for that book and was also featured in a recent exhibition at the Bishop's Palace, Abergwili entitled 'Tirweddau Hidolus Deheubarth' (translated from 'Dreaming Landscapes of Deheubarth,). The inspiration for the title came from the fact that my work takes me to all parts of the medieval kingdom that Hywel Dda created and that, as you say, had its capital in Dinefwr. Also, in the photos I tried to allude to the redolence of history still in this landscape - many scenes have changed little in 1,000 years.

Heres a very bad pic of me taken at Dinefwr Castle . It has some sentimental value since this was the last Welsh castle I visited before emigrating in 2001. It hadn't long been opened to the public at that time. It is probably the most important native castle in South Wales. Both Hwyel Dda and the Arglwydd Rhys called it home in their day.
