Jacqui's Carmarthen Planning Blog is a must-read. It's hard to believe that a council can get away with so much Stalinist behaviour in the early 21st century but it's true.
Again, I have probably mentioned this before but the council allowed St David's Parish Church in Carmarthen to be sold for 1 last year while giving this "community" church such an enormous amount of the ratepayers' money. I think that most of us, should we need legal or financial advice, would prefer the practical people of the Citizens' Advice Bureau to be on hand rather than prayer or banishment to hell. If I'm wrong then please let me know and I'll get on the choo-choo to Hades.
Jack, I found their address with Google Maps. It'sMercy MinistriesofAmerica. 1455Romaine Creek Road.Fenton MO63026-5126. Go to Google Maps and type in "Mercy Ministries of America, Romaine Creek Road, Fenton, MO" then switch tosatellitemode. When you zoom in you'll see a rather large facility hidden away in the woods with a long, narrow private lane leading up to it.
You're correct about the Sisters of Mercy who are prominent here too.
Whatever else you can say about Carmarthenshire Council they never fail to amuse
Here is an example :-
When it comes to Carmarthenshire Council, being experts in spin and obfuscation, it's difficult to pick a favourite but, "slippage due to front loading of external funds" (haven't got the cash yet) and "multi modal parking facility to provide an integrated transport hub" (car park) are in the top ten.
An interesting article. I've never heard of this ministry even though they apparently have a relatively secluded center nearby in St. Louis (Fenton, MO actually).
Thanks, Ceri. It's shocking that the council has removed funding for the CAD which does actually give people practical assistance, without the need for praying or eternal punishment. Sadly, this seems to be typical of the way the council runs things.
Whilst the Mercy Ministries website states they are a non-denominational Christian organisation, Mercy Ministries are also considered to be evangelical [ 9 ] and charismatic [ 10 ] in their approach to treatment. The Mercy Ministries website states that the founder, Nancy Alcorn, established the following three principles for the program:
Accept girls free of charge
Give at least ten percent of all donations to other organizations and ministries
To not accept any state or federal funding as it interferes with the freedom to share Christ." [ 11 ]
It would appear that there is a certain amount of flexibility regarding principles one and three above
Thanks Alan. I'll keep an eye on those blogs.
