"Anti-Welsh census row (Daily Telegraph 13 Aug 2011)

General Discussions ( Anything Goes )

Welsh ex-pats stand up and be counted, wherever you may be! Oh no! He's not Welsh, he just USED to live in Wales! LOL.

If only Iain Turnbull had been registered on Americymru!

Oooops! [Clarification needed Ceri: if you have lived in Wales even for just a 'wee' time, and you have a Scottish name, and are NOT born in Wales, are you entitled to be a member of Americymru?] ROFL

I'd have sent him a Welsh language version of the Census by 'carrier-pigeon'.

[ I bet there were thousands of them delivered to Welsh households that ended up in the bin. But at least we had the choice of completing it in the Welsh language. ]

Swansea SA1 development progresses

Promoting Wales in the USA

SOUTH WALES EVENING POST - WALES' LARGEST SELLING NEWSPAPER REPORTS:

A new watersports centre is coming to Swansea's docklands.

The city will be home to Wales' first cable-powered wakeboarding centre. It will be based in the Prince of Wales Dock in SA1 and will operate from a 28-acre site in the docks.

Developers expect to be able to offer wakeboarding - where thrill-seekers use the wake of a boat, or in this case a cable system, to propel themselves into the air at speeds of up to 25 mph.

A spokesman said: "Wakeboarding is a popular sport - it's still new but interest is growing at a phenomenal rate".

Ladybizbiz says: "Why, with all that ocean front in Swansea and Mumbles, are we doing something like this in the confines of the dock area"?

You might just have ' the photograph ' hidden in a drawer somewhere or in your camera files, the one which will win the Shutterbugs Competition.

This is one I took last year, but I'm not able to enter because I'm the organiser of the competition:

The Worm's Head taken from Hillend Caravan Park, Llangennith

Perhaps you are intending visiting Wales this Summer. Visit Rhossili, take the shot and enter the competition here : http://www.peninsular-bs.co.uk/special-feature-news/gower-shutterbugs-competition-summer-2010/ .

If you win and can't take up the prize on offer, which is dinner for two at The Bay Bistro Rhossili , then you can nominate family living in the locality to take up your prize. Now you can't get fairer than that!

Would you kindly take 1 min to complete my Test Poll?

Promoting Wales in the USA

This is a test poll to familiarise myself with the software.

There are just 3 questions.

This is a dry run in preparation for the Shutterbugs Photographic competition taking place during August, July and September, and being voted on early in October. Go to the Events Section to see details of the competition.

I will post a link to the poll so that you too can vote on the 10 finalists' photo's, here on Americymru. The public will whittle down the 10 finalists to the last 5. The judges will then select the final winning photograph.

Your help is really appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hollywood and Owain Glyndwr?

Promoting Wales in the USA

Yes he looks the part, I agree, and his resume is top notch, however I'm a purist in these matters and believe he'd have great difficulty with sounding authentic as Owain Glyndwr.I want Glyndwr to deliver a convincing Welsh lilt, else he'll appear weak and undignified in his characterisation.I've said it before and I'm sticking to my guns Michael Sheen is the front runner in my opinion. His delivery of characterisations such as Kenneth Williams, David Frost, Tony Blair and Brian Clough is superlative. He is truly untouchable and would be a matchless Owain.Have a great Sunday folks, it's looking like a good day ahead here on Gower Peninsular - will be off to Rhossili soon with the dogs for a blast on the beach! Yes, that beach that won the Best Beach in the UK recently in a Daily Mail poll of readers!Hwyl Fawr, Rhianne aka LadyBizBiz on Twitter.
