Welsh language comedians? Digrifwyr yn Gymraeg

Humor

Diolch Gareth! Ro'n i'n anghofio'yn hollol am "C'mon Midfield." Yn wir, doedd dim gwahaniaeth geni ... mae digri o bob math fy ngadael i yn y llwch. Ro'n i'n trio dilyn "Post Mortem" ar Radio Cymru, sy'n wirion dros ben, ac hyd yn oed, dw i'n ffeindio mai "Talwrn y Beirdd" ar y BBC sy'n gyflym. Ond, siwr o fod, yn fyr o symud i Gymru er mwyn clywed yr iaith ar lafar bob dydd, ... bydd rhaid imi wrando ar ddarllediadau sy'n cynnwys sgwrs yn ei ffurf fwyaf naturiol. Diolch am eich sylwad. Mi edrychaf am y ddolen.

Welsh language comedians? Digrifwyr yn Gymraeg

Humor

I find the hardest thing about learning Welsh is the humour. Even "Stori'r Dydd" in the Eisteddfod, I'll be following along happily and all of a sudden the punchline will come, everybody's roaring with laughter in the Pabell Len, and I'm bewilderedly trying to figure out what was so funny. Maybe Welsh humour isn't like Canadian humour, but where can a learner get some good practice listening to it? And don't anybody write back and recommend the daily digest from Y Cynulliad!

Eisteddfod what a load of shit ?

Promoting Wales in the USA

Well, it's a good thing Wales has both the international and the national Esteddfod, then isn't it? As for me, just to add a little extra flavour to this soup, I'll defend the monoglot status of the National Eisteddfod and say, we need places where Welsh is the only language spoken, if we hope to ever achieve real bilingualism there. Minority languages always encounter opposition to designating unilingual status.I'm not sure the statistics you quoted are correct, regarding the ability to speak Welsh of the people in counties where the Eisteddfod is funded. Where did they come from?

Yes, you most certainly can. The link to follow is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/catchphrase/ There are various levels, to suit any learner's competency; and the site is fairly explanatory about which is which.Pob lwc! You'll note that the BBC provides scripts along with the sound files. Extremely helpful!
