Thank you for posting this article from the Independent.Historically the Welsh in the United States had organized Welsh clubs such as the Welsh American Society wherever Welsh settled. My Grandmother was President of one of them. From what I have heard, there were hundreds of similar groups scattered throughout the United States. Welsh pride in America was very strong and vocal in the early 1900s through at least the 1930s.From my readings, the Welsh have every reason to be proud. Our ancestors survived legions of invaders when our British brothers didn't fare as well. We helped the British when Geoffrey deeded over Welsh territory to the long suffering Brits. There are some history books which refer to Wales and the Welsh as "First Land and First People." Our language is unique and alive, thank God.I am a proud American yet the Welsh DNA I carry shall always make me proud to be a Granddaughter of Wales.Cymru am Byth!

Promoting Wales in the USA
Thank you Dave! While growing up I heard wonderful stories about Swansea and some places surrounding Swansea. I have watched many videos and news broadcasts online about Swansea and even though I have never been there, I agree with you that it is a great city.

Thank you for creating this website. I'm joining on the Night before St. David's Day and found this website while searching for local events celebrating St. David's Day.I have been working on my Welsh family tree for many years, and was able to find verifiable information until ca 1810-1812 and there I remain stuck. Everyone in my Welsh family tree was born in Swansea, Glamorgan with the exception of my Great Great Grandmother who was born in Ireland.Someday I hope to go visit Swansea. Until then I have been attempting to learn the Welsh National Anthem and some simple phrases.Cymru am Byth!

Welsh accent
Humor
That's an amusing clever bit. I remember that folded paper with numbers trick from long ago. It's clever how they incorporated it into announcing the date.I loved their accents.
