WE ARE OPEN TO ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS WHETHER THE WELSH PEOPLE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AN INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OR HERITAGE OF BRYTHON SUCH AS THE BASQUE ARE CURRENTLY IN SPAIN AND FRANCE OR THE SAMI IN SCANDINAVIA AND IF SO WHAT WOULD BE AN APPROPRIATE STANDARD OR CRITERIA FOR SAME. AS AN EXAMPLE I AM A RECOGNIZED AMERICAN INDIAN IN THE UNITED STATES BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND ENJOY CERTAIN LEGAL ENTITLEMENTS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS BY FEDERAL AND INTERNATIONAL LAW, I.E. THE TITLE 25 ACTS IN THE UNITED STATES, UNITED NATIONS DECLARATION ON THE RIGHTS OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES, INTERNATIONAL LABOR ORGANIZATION NO. 169, ETC. SINCE I STARTED RESEARCHING MY WELSH HERITAGE I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A PROTOCOL FOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AS WELSH EVEN THOUGH ALL THE HALLMARKS, HISTORICITY AND REASONS FOR SAID STATUS SHOULD BE IN PLACE. FROM MY PERSPECTIVE IT IS A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT AND NEED OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN HISTORICALLY DISENFRANCHISED. I SENT SIAN A FRIEND REQUEST BUT SHE HAS NOT GOTTEN BACK YET. BUT REGARDLESS I WILL CONTINUE TO DRAFT THE OPEN LETTER TO PLAID CYMRU AND HOPE THAT OTHERS MAY LEND A HAND WITH SUGGESTIONS.

Not quite sure what indigenous Welsh status is! Sian is a very knowledgeable lady - why not get in touch? She did a marvellous review of myOG novels!

DIOLCH JENNY; I HAVE JUST ORDERED THE DAVIES AND YOUR RECOMMENDATION BY ALEX GIBBONS. THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO GET ME STARTED BUT I PLAN TO ALSO ORDER CERI'S TWO RECOMMENDATION AS WELL PERHAPS LATER. I HAVE ALSO ORDERED AN HISTORICAL ATLAS OF WALES BY WILLIAM REES. DO YOU OR CERI THINK THE ATLAS IS ACCURATE AND WELL RESEARCHED?

Yes: sorry, that was off the top of my head and I got the title wrong. You might also like to read Alex Gibbon's "The Mystery of Jack of Kent and the Fate of Owain Glyndwr". Interesting premise and well worth reading ~ make up your own mind, however!

J E Lloydand R RDavies arethe best: however, the Skidmore one is great ~ he's a Scudamore descendant and great value because of his enthusiasm.I spent two years researching the subject before I wrote a fictional word ~ and now have to do it all over again for part three!

As for J.E. Lloyd there are a few available on Amazon. Cheapest is $168 . NOT worth that price imho. You would be much better off with the three titles you mentioned above.

Researching my novels on OG I found Geoffrey hodges, J E Lloyd and Ian Skidmore's books very useful. Skidmore's is the easiest to read and if you also want to view the War of Independence geographically, you might also try Chris Barber's "Glyndwr's Way". If you Google Embassy GYndwr you will find that the Meibion Glyndwr are still active in honouring and protecting his name and legacy!

I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT JOHN EDWARD LLOYD'S OWEN GLENDOWER PUBLISHED IN 1931 IS A FINE WORK BUT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A COPY. AS IT IS AN OLDER BOOK IS THERE A COPY ONLINE?

I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING TO PURCHASE A BOOK REGARDING OWAIN GLY DWR AND AM REFLECTING ON THREE CHOICES. I WOULD LIKE THE BOOK WITH THE BEST SCHOLARLY REFERENCES AS I LIKE TO CHECK REFERENCES AND EXTEND MY RESEARCH FROM THERE. THE THREE I AM CONSIDERING ARE:

1) OWAIN GLYNDWR: THE STORY OF THE LAST PRINCE OF WALES BY TERRY BREVERTON PUBLISHED IN 2009

2) OWAIN GLYNDWR: THE LAST PRINCE OF WALES BY Peter Gordon Williams PUBLISHED IN 2012

3) THE REVOLT OF OWAIN GLYN DWR BY R. R. DAVIES PUBLISHED IN 1996.

ALTHOUGH THE DAVIES PUBLICATION IS THE OLDEST OF THE THREE I HAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT IT MAY BE THE BEST REFERENCED AND MOST SCHOLARLY. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS IN THIS REGARD.

DIOLCH
