I wish I had seen this when you were compling this list. Most people don't realize that David Thompson was a Welshmen or what he did for North America. He was a Welsh orphan in London in the late 1700's when he was slected to sail to Canada and work for the Hudson Bay Company. He was droped off just south of the artic circle and had to make his way south to HBC headquarters. He then went on to explor Northwest Canada and America looking for the Clombia river. Lewis and Clark used one of his early maps. on their journy west in 1802. David took his wife and kids on his journys and criscrossed the Northwest of North America many times. He was the first white man in Washington. Idaho and Montana. Norm Morgan
