Mae dyddiad cau'r ddeiseb (12 Gorffennaf) yn agosu. / The petition's closing date (12 July) is nearing.
Er bod awduron a darllenwyr eisiau bod llyfrau Cymraeg ar gael mewn ffurf lafoer ac mae cyhoeddwyr yn gallu ac yn awyddus i'w creu a'u gwerthu, mae Amazon yn gwrthod caniatu e-lyfrau Cymraeg.
Os gallwch, cymerwch yn llythrennol un munud o'ch amser i ychwanegu'ch enw at ddeiseb yn galw ar Amazon i ganiatu e-lyfrau Cymraeg ar y Kindle. Mi fuasai hefyd yn dda os byddech yn pasio'r neges hon at unrhyw un a phob un arall credwch byddai diddordeb ac yn fodlon i gefnogi'r achos.

Although authors and readers want Welsh books available as e-books and publishers are able and eager to create and sell them, Amazon refuses to allow Welsh e-books.
Please take literally one minute to add your name to a petition calling on Amazon to allow Welsh e-books on the Kindle. It would also be great if you would pass this message on to anyone and everyone else you think may be interested and willing to support the cause.

This is ridiculous. I signed the petition. Welsh doesn't require a special character set so what's the problem? The internal Oxford Dictionary wouldn't be able to find Welsh definitions when you click on a word, but that's no big deal.
I recently noticed that Rosetta Stone is no longer offering Welsh which is sad. Why would they develop the software then drop it? The work was already done--and worked fine (Basic Level only).

Apologies for the incorrect link. This is what comes of trying to type while lying on the bed and holding a newspaper up in one hand to catch the light! I have tweeted the correct address now also.

The Welsh publisher, Y Lolfa, currently has a petition asking Amazon topublish Welsh language books on Kindle. http://www.deisebelyfrau.org/ (bilingual).
A report in today'sWestern Mail tells of how Y Lolfa published some Welsh books last year on Kindle but had to describe them as English as Welsh is unsupported on Amazon's Kindle.
Languages such as Galician, Catalan and Basque are apparently supported but Kindle has no immediate plans to support Welsh. They have recently accepted a book in Cornish but it has to be listed as English.
As Garmon Gruffudd, managing director of Y Lolfa, points out, Amazon had help with setting up a distribution warehouse in Swansea with subsidies from the Welsh Government.
