A modern picture of Grove Cottage in Penclawdd, Glamorgan, Wales. Our family lived there for over 110 years, and during that time maintained a school for area children. Margaret Gronow (a great grand aunt) was the first Head School Mistress. Grove Cottage is only a couple of blocks from the modern-day Penclawdd Primary School.

The house underewent extensive remodeling in the last twenty years. But, according to many of the locals, it is haunted. The hauntings began after my great grandmother's youngest sister became involved in the Spirtualist Movement during the 1920's (A movement made popular at the time by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. She held meetings and seances at Grove Cottage. From that time forward family members and visitors reported the house was haunted. I have a third cousin in Brecon who remembers several sleep-overs at Grove Cottage when she was a little girl. She said the sounds she heard at night left her trembling under the covers.
