Celebrate Wales at the Welsh Society of Western New England’s St. David’s Day Luncheon at the Nutmeg Restaurant, East Windsor, CT. Two members will be in traditional Welsh National costume. A video message from the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, followed by lunch, then Leslie Wood Spencer, WSWNE member presents “Wales, Land of Song:  A look at the choral tradition from yesteryear to today.”  Beginning with a tribute to St. David, patron saint of Wales, she will review events that have shaped the magnificent musical traditions of Wales today.  Discussing changes that have taken place in this musical nation, she will also interweave photos of Wales from her own travels, including a visit to a mine, and how singing helped heal the wounds and stresses of the harsh conditions. Welsh logo clothing, Welsh photo note cards and other items will be available as well as a Welsh "Tea Cup” Auction. We will close with the singing of the Welsh National Anthem.
