Simply for a bit of fun, I want to research musical eccentrics e.g Alex Harvey, Screaming Lord Sutch, Frank Zappa, John Cale, Ian Dury etc. Apart from the genius John Cale can anyone think of any genuine (popular) music eccentrics who are Welsh?

Let me know, please.

Unable to find a picture of the Top Rank on the net so far. Can't remember which street it was in now.

Oh, you must mean that mop-haired combo in the suits. Yes, I wonder what happened to them.

I have "Give My Compliments to the Chef" (Alex Harvey) on an Old Grey Whistle Test DVD. He was quite influential if I remember rightly and he introduced the great Maggie Bell to his brother, Les, and they went on to form Stone the Crows. Les Harvey died on stage at the Top Rank in Swansea from an electric shock.

I agree he must have sung a song or two but can he compare with John Cale or Alex harvey. By they way, if anyone out there is wondering Alex who? Check these:

Each member of the band was excellent. Alex Harvey was a true Scottish eccentric and a musical genius.

I've just introduced them to a friend in Richmond who has fallen as much in love with the music as I am.

Do yourselves a favour and give a listen to the music and then buy SAHB Live. You can't go wrong.
