The Olympic Torch at Rhuddlan 29.05.12 Torch bearer Robin Govier is an active volunteer in North Wales for the British Red Cross. He has been involved in the Home From Hospital Service. This has involved visiting people who have recently been discharged from hospital and helping them adjust to being back in their own homes by shopping, carrying out household tasks as might be needed or simply chatting. Often it is a case of confidence building and setting them back on their feet again. With his blend of sympathy and humour Robin has been not only a helper but has also made many friends. Robin is also active in the local community in other ways. He is Treasurer for the Flint British Legion Gardening Club. He is a Church Warden & Magazine Editor at St Mary`s Church, Bagillt. He is a member of Cytun, an organisation aiming to get churches to work more closely together. He has been the Organiser for Christian Aid in Flint & District for many years. He is the official carer for an elderly gentleman in Flint. He is also known for taking many photographs of local events for historical reference. He is a keen animal lover and an important part of his daily routine is the care of his two Border Collie x German Shepherds Pop & Fizz."
