Glyn Davies on "Tidal Wales" from ITV Wales 2008

Category:
Duration: 00:05:06
Description:
A carefully and specifically edited clip from the 2008 ITV "Tidal Wales" series, about people whose lives are influenced by the movement of the tides. The clip has been cut to just show an interview between me and series presenter Andrea Benfield, discussing my seascape photography. Shot at the Dulas Estuary on Anglesey

Haia RhianneI have been to Worms's Head actually a few years back, and certainly the HUGE beach just to the right, amazing place. Thing is I was on a surf hunt rather than a photo hunt. I would like to go back there again but of you want to commission me I'll come back sooner :-))Just been out kayaking this afternoon, WOW it's great seeing the coast from low down on the sea ! Also been cliff jumping and the weather was glorious and the sun hot so am feeling very "zingy" :-))Many thanks for your lovely compliments, appreciatedPob hwyl am y troGlyn

Just watched the "Tidal Wales" video and have to say it was marvellous. A couple of things prompted me to write this note:Your obvious passion for your art manifests itself in your work and I am mesmerised by the beauty you have captured in this art form.Listening to you telling Andrea Benfield about how you and your wife 'pushed through the currents' chest high in tidal waters reminded me of a walk that many tourist pilgrims make to the Worm's Head, Rhossili - they often misjudge the tide times resulting in similar experiences as yours. However the tides here aren't as understanding or forgiving and many have in fact perished in this way.So, I wondered if you had had any experience of working here on Gower and whether indeed you had captured the iconic landmark which is The Worm's Head? I don't know what might have led you to leave the one tip of Wales to visit the other tip of Wales but it's an interesting thought.Seeing your still of the bare bones of an ancient ship buried in the sand reminded me of the wreck of the Helvetia in Rhossili Bay (I live on Gower Peninsula). Story of the Helvetia If you search Google for Helvetia Rhossili there are many local websites showing photographs of this amazing wreck.Hope your weekend is zinging!Regards, Rhianne aka LadyBizBiz on TwitterResident of Gower

Loved watching your tidal wales video. I used to live in Menai Bridge, where I live there is very little tide!! I live in central Ontario, on Lake Simcoe. Lake Simcoe is too small for any tide, some of the great lakes do have a slight tide. When I manage to get back to Anglesey ( hopefully next year) I will call into pick up your new book.

Hiya Tam, many thanks for your feedback. I will post a link later to a live interview I just gave on BBC Wales, which talks about just that! It's about being out when the conditions are inclement, not sunny! Some of the best and most atmospheric shots are when the clouds roll over and storms are on the horizon, or shooting at dusk or dawn. Will wait for the Listen Again link and post later! Thanks Virginia :-) It was a great piece to film and a great presenter AND producer to work with. Andrea Benfield was really lovely and Angharad the producer was very well organised! Did you get to see the Sioe Gelf piece about Nant Gwrtheyrn ? There are 4 or 5 more vids to be uploaded!
