Things Seemed Brighter
This morning, after several previous stunning sunrises but low water, I got up nice and early and headed for the Menai Strait. The light was - FLAT! Undeterred I just got my kit together and headed off, to enjoy a walk if nothing else. The woods were wet and the footpaths muddy and slippery but the sheer beauty of a mirror flat Strait, hardly moving on the flood tide, was simply awesome, wide and deep, a quiet Anaconda of water winding it's way between the land masses.
Three geese took off to my left and their calls and wing beats shattered the quietness. The rocks were dark and damp but their penetration into the vast light covered depths was a brave effort against the rising sea. A few car lights could be seen passing over Telford's bridge in the distance but they seemed a world away from my rocks, the ducks in the adjacent creek and the pulsating sunrise behind a shifting cloudscape.
I am privileged to live so close to such beauty. I am fortunate that I can get such an endorphins release from something as simple as an early morning amble.
