If there's one thing that Gwynfor Evans should be remembered for is is that he helped prevent the kind of bloodshed that characterised the troubles in Northern Ireland. Talk and reason were his stock in trade. As for the the inception of S4C. Thatcher allowed a television channel to be created knowing full well that satellite TV would make the whole exercise pointless.
