@ Garcia's Mexican Restaurant, 5050 S. Syracuse St., Denver
Attendees: @Elis Owens
The Colorado Welsh Society invites you to a free evening of Welsh entertainment on Sept. 20 at Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant, 5050 S. Syracuse St., Denver, CO 80237 (just north of E. Belleview at S. Syracuse).
The evening will honor two cultural heroes, Owain Glyndwr, who was proclaimed Prince of Wales and fought the English in the early 1400’s, and Dylan Thomas, Wales’ greatest poet.
Dylan Thomas is often acknowledged as the most influential lyrical poet of the twentieth century. His most famous works include the poem “Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night,” the radio play “Under Milkwood,” and the short story “A Child’s Christmas in Wales.”
The event will include short talks on these two Welsh heroes, plus Welsh folk dancing, poetry, and singing in both Welsh and English. There will be information on activities of the Colorado Welsh Society, including Welsh language classes that will start on September 30th, and the Colorado Welsh Choir.
The evening will start at 6:00 PM with a social hour to enjoy dinner and conversation. This year we will have live background Welsh music to add to the social hour. The program will start at 7:00. Please stop by and enjoy some great Mexican food and an evening of Welsh entertainment.
Contact Sam Kuntz, CWS President, at sam.kuntz@comcast.net or 303.886.0632 for more information.
