@ Swansea, Wales, UK, 5 Cwmdonkin Drive, Uplands
Attendees: @Dylan Thomas Birthplace
Nam Le, the winner of the 2008 Dylan Thomas Prize, returns to the city for a workshop with children from Terrace Road School which is a few hundred yards from the birthplace of Dylan Thomas at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive.
Nam is the guest of Anne and Geoff Haden who have restored the house to its condition as a new house when bought by the Thomas family in 1914 a few months before Dylan was born in the front bedroom.
In the few months that it has been open to the public it has become a 'must see' location for overseas visitors to Wales who either stay in the house to experience the Edwardian atmosphere that influenced Dylan's work or sign up for a guided tour. Many are looking for their family roots in the South Wales area
Nam, who was born in Vietnam and brought up in Australia has lived for a number of years in New York but has recently taken up a university post in East Anglia.
Along with Nam's workshops at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive the children will also have a chance to explore the house and visit Cwmdonkin Park which Dylan wrote about on many occasions.
