I've been following Cornish Republic on Twitter for a couple of weeks and, today, they provided a link to the speech written by Peter Beresford Ellis for the 50th anniversary of the Celtic League. It's an interesting and illuminating speech, and I'm sorry to say that Gwynfor Evans doesn't seem come out of it very well!
Ellis examines the progress made by the various Celtic nations since the foundation of the League in 1961 and concludes that while there have been improvements, there is an enormous amount to be done. Strangely, there has been something of a backlash against the notion of Celtic peoples and culture; this might indicate that we are now successfully beginning to make our mark and non-Celts are simply getting a bit nervous!!
There are even people who claim that Celts are a myth. The fact that Julius Caesar spoke about them doesn't seem to cut any ice with the disbelievers.
