As a recent prodigal to the Americymru site after a year trading and travelling across the UK, I have taken the opportunity of looking through many of the amazing photographs upon the site. While looking at some lovely shots of the Red Hawk taken by Brett Hull, I recalled some of the lovely Raptor moments I have experienced during this year at the Re-enactment Fayres in the UK. (Renaissance Fayres I believe they are in the US)

At the Battle of Mortimer's Cross last year, just outside Leominster and almost in Wales we had a selection of birds brought down from the newly developing project from North Wales.

In addition to raptors they had owls and each were beautifully hand- tame and had clearly been well looked after.

It is with great delight that I read upon Facebook that the Coastal Park Project at Conwy has now moved forward and is holding open days in November and December

THE COASTAL HAWKS PROJECT

From their own information :
The Coastal Hawks Project is a community interest company, that set up in 2009 in Rhyl, North Wales as a seagull detterent.

The company only employs 18 - 25 year old long term unemployed. We train them in several areas including basic falconry.

In 2011 the company moved over to Conwy to become a seagull deterrent and tourist attraction and had great success at this.

The Company has expanded to a Medieval Seige Village and Falconry Centre in Conwy, which is opening in 2012.

We specialise in up front handling sessions and flying displays ,
We are very passionate about our birds and getting all up close to our beautiful birds of preys, to educated you all about birds of prey and how they live.
At Coastal Hawks Project we love to visit schools, but we also cover birthdays and weddings and other special days.
On November 21st they were able to report....
"At approximately 4pm this afternoon full planning permission was granted by Conwy Council for the development of the new Raptors and Raiders Medieval Siege Village and Falconry Centre in Conwy.
All systems go for the development to be completed and opened as soon as possible."
Hoping for a better picture soon - but best of luck to all at the Raptor Centre...
