Wales hard done by!
That sending off by referee Rolland was totally misjudged -- it changed the complexion of the whole match. It was not a malicious or really dangerous tackle -- Sam pulled out of it when he realised that Clerc was in the air. He was definitely not trying to harm an opponent -- he is not that type of player. Referees need to have empathy with the players and an ability to read a game -- that was one of the most crucial and insensitive decisions I have ever seen.
Yeah sorry I meant Neil Jenkins...a few too many yesterday afternoon Diolch to SJ for the analysis of the Foul Play Laws. Seems to me a yellow card would have been perfectly sufficient.
Ieuan Evans? Not sure I can recall him ever taking a penalty....... you mean Jonathan Davies or Neil Jenkins? But you are quite right -- the Welsh boys did not have their kicking boots on.... and if Hooky had been on song the match would have been won.
Well....having just got back from watching the match at the Pacific Pie Bar I feel obliged to rage back in furious agreement........perfectly legit tackle.......the opposing player had the ball and he wasn't hurt....'nuff said. All in all it seems to me we lacked a world calss kicker...two penalties and a conversion missed, any one of which would have have given us the match. Ieuan Evans would have got 'em.
