Following on from the success of our Three word story on our old Joomla Forum we thought it might be fun to launch a few more collaborative episodes from the "New Mabinogion". Anyone wishing to start a new three word story should a add a discussion ( below ) including a picture ( between 30 and 40kb, if you need help reducing the image size let us know and we will do it for you ) and submit the first three words to get the ball rolling.
There are only THREE simple rules; each three word entry must:-
1. Consist of only ( wait for it! ) three words ONLY!. Creativity is encouraged and the use of punctuation, or the omission of an indefinite (or definite) article here or there can often accomplish the goal of conveying intent. Some words are naturals for hyphenation, but stringing more than two words by hyphens is strongly discouraged. Acronyms are OK, and considered as 'one word', regardless of how many letters in that acronym - ACLU, UNESCO, PETA, etc. are OK and count only as one word. Common usage of apostrophes (as in "it's" or "wouldn't" ) are also OK - the 'connected' two words still only count as one.
2. Allow at least 2 persons, but preferably 3, to contribute before adding more text. The 'wait for 2 other persons' limit should only be waived if a story has been stalled for an excessive time (at least a week or more) and needs a boost. Otherwise, unless a story has 'stalled', only allowing one person to 'intervene' could be considered 'gauche'. Neverfollow-on your own text, please.
3. Be a construct of a grammatical and meaningful (even if seemingly nonsensical) fluid narrative.
Contributions which fail, in the moderators' view(s), to comport, may be subject to deletion.
We aim ( loosely ) to construct stories of between 300 and 600 words depending on how popular each story becomes.
Some of the above rules may be waived' in some situations, but are generally in place to allow 'full group participation' - so, check to see your reply (in the 15 minute 'edit period') lest you end up walking the pirates' plank!.
Please remember...do not comment on the photographs...reply to the last comment in the thread. Here is an example to get the ball rolling:- Welsh Border Patrol. You will find this in the discussions listed below on this page.
Have Fun!

Edward Roberts Acceptance Speech and Celebratory Ode
"It is with much heartfelt humility that I thank the 'gorsedd' for my award, I have, in the past few months often dreamed of this moment and, it is true that the magic often excedes the very real and bitter rivalry that is 'Three wording' To Mona and Dilwyn I can say naught but Well Done and sing your praise thus:"
Ode to Mona and Dilwyn
'To Mona and Dil your odes were brilliant and I hope that still we meet here to Continue our verbal jousting for another year, And let it not be misunderstood, that in our three word neighbourhood The whoopee cushions sound your names in triumph as a trumpet Fanfares wonderous news across the distant realm. Salute then all those runners up, whose bardic efforts woke us up To sure delights in trans-Atlantic poetry and prose' For without all this effort from we all, The project spawned by Ceri would be doomed to fail and close!

Comment by Swansea Jack on May 4, 2012 at 8:52am Just adding a quick 'lo-tech' tutorial here - for the benefit of any 'first-time' contributors - AND for one of our more prolific contibutors! He knows who he is!

It is important - to the continuity of the story - that 'replies' be posted in the correct place - and not inserted at one of the many other 'reply' tabs that appear. As shown in the next 3 images, there are only TWO correct places where your 3 word contribution ('Reply') should be posted:
Page 1
Page 2
Page 3
Comment by Swansea Jack on April 11, 2012 at 8:02am We have 1 new and 9 'old' stories that you can add to - just append three words to the last 'reply' on any of them.
Hint: it is useful to read back through several (5 or 6) replies to get a feel for where the current sentence has come from - to see where you may want to take it - if for no other reason, to avoid awkwardly punctuated sentences.
We need fewer than 10 or 12 entries (30 - 36 more words) to be able to end these:
The harder you try . . .
Pontlottyn Horror . . .
and send them over to the Three Word Repository - with other Three Word Stories that have been deemed 'COMPLETE'.
Comment by Swansea Jack on March 14, 2012 at 5:01pm We are trying to wrap up several stories - short of the originally intended length of 500 - 600 words. We hope that may then invite some new zany tales to be submitted!
At this point, we will likely try to end the existing 10 stories at the 120 reply (360 words) mark. We will 'signal' a pending end to a story, with the prompt: 'Thus it ended' - about 10 replies before 'THE END'.
Here is how many replies each of the those 10 will need to reach their 'END:
Don Quixote meets . . . 13 replies needed.
The harder you try . . . 15
The Pontlottyn Horror 28
Parry the Puffin . . . 44
Madog dabbles . . . 50
Desert of Wales 52
Vicky Pollard . . . 66
New Story 70
Ianto's Education 74
St Pyr's Day 85
We call on all TWSG members to assist - and to all who are NOT members, to become one - and assist!
It can be great fun - THREE WORDS at a time.
Been offline for 2 months, only my iphone to check with
Comment by Swansea Jack on January 6, 2012 at 8:22am Happy New Year - there, that's an example of Three Words
Comment by Swansea Jack on December 28, 2011 at 11:23am A few additions to some of the Three Word Stories today. Help move them along. Just find three words to add to the latest reply - in any of a dozen or so 'zany' stories.
Comment by Swansea Jack on November 16, 2011 at 9:27am Not sure we can completely control the number of titles, but think it would be a good idea to suggest that no new stories be added until we can bring the existing stories to an end. Try to have fewer than 6 or 7 stories 'open' at one time.
I'll update the spraedsheet to show how many more 'triplets' are needed on those that are in the second half of their 'quota' of 500-600 words.
More participants is the key. Come on TWS Group members, get back to the keyboard - please.
perhaps it should be renamed 2 out of 3, 3 for 2 etc.
and then tea for two or two for tea blaa blaa blaa
On a more serious note, should we limit the number of titles?
Comment by Swansea Jack on October 31, 2011 at 7:48pm If you are able to string three coherent words together, then you should join up and particpate in this Group. It can be a lot of fun - IF you participate - else it will become a dinosaur. Dilwyn won't like that!
Comment by Swansea Jack on October 31, 2011 at 12:04pm I think he means, that in his absence, the 'parade of 3 words' has slowed up. I try to add a few here and there, but seems that there are 4 dozen members of the Group who are speechless!
