Some of you might remember (Just the FB folks) that last spring our fair city decided that the folk on my block were not responsible enough to have our trash collected in the large metal dumpsters nor picked up in the alley, and were all given plastic roll-out dumpsters.
I hate them.
Nevertheless, there they are, and we have learned to deal (after the city ignored our numerous requests for redress, but I digress). Well, last night in the wee hours, My wife and I--dozing in and out in front of SNL DVD's--were roused and disturbed by an awful sound. After we got our heads about things, we raced out side to find that some deviant driver had driven into and knocked over that damned plastic dumpter, snapping the wheels clean off. Trash was strewn for a good 12 feet (Thank goodness for tie-bags).
This morning being trash day, we righted the can and filled it again. It was about then we noticed several neighbors stirring, the folk straight across even coming out to inquire.
In dawn's first light (well, third, anyway) we called the Sanitation office, who took our name and number, saying that this has been a problem for about 10 weeks (Five other cans have suffered similar fates). we were asked to call the PD, which we did; and the officer came by straight away.
Needless to say, I have had a pretty trashy morning.

I should also mention that I needs must be thankful that the Sanitation Dept. is replacing our can for free as they deem it was not OUR negligence!
