I will use your directions and attempt a Pibgorn in the key of D, and will also use the websites you provided for the other supplies. I will develop local sources for additional pipes if possible.

Thanks once again for your offer.

Hi Gerard,

I have developed an interest in the Pibgorn and would like to either buy or make one. I live in a part of the USA which has limited species of deciduous trees, the Alder not among them. Could you point me to a commercial source of alder, or a reasonably (?) priced made one?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Gerard....just thought I'd draw your attention to this post:-

It's a great opportunity for Welsh bands to make their music more widely known in the US. Contact Sean Owens at IRFT Celtic Radio. Details on the blogpost.

Many thanks for your appreciation of 'Plant Duw'! I must declare an interest in the group as my younger son, Elidir, is bass guitarist and can be seen (wearing glasses) dispensing advice to the love-lorn youth on the prom at the beginning of the video. I think it was filmed in Penarth, as the majority of the group is based in Cardiff, but all are originally from the Bangor area, and were together at Ysgol Tryfan.

I have happy memories of Barry, when playing with the Glamorgan Youth Orchestra (viola) in the 50's and 60's, staying at the Training College (although more often at Ogmore School Camp) and performing in the Memorial Hall. I lived in Neath then. We had the best time of any generation, I think.

There are more videos of the group which I shall put on Americymru in the next few weeks. They have quite a following now, and have just brought out their first album, Y Capel Hyfryd
