Eisteddfod Winners

I've been researching my ancestry for several years and, fortunately, have relatives who have archives of a number of people on my mother's side of the family.

The reason I first started my ancestry tree was that I knew nothing about my paternal grandfather but, inevitably, I've done a great deal of research on my maternal ancestors and relatives too. Amongst my maternal associations are Lewis Thomas and Sir Thomas Herbert Parry-Williams, though I should stress that neither of them is…

A Wailing and a Gnashing of Teeth

Posted on October 31, 2011 at 6:52am 1 Comment

The frustrations of producing a novel which one hopes will at least be read, if not on the bestseller charts, are manifold.

There are the physical problems: blurry eyes (from looking at a computer screen for far too long); stiff shoulders and neck (from too much typing); aching legs (from the lack of a proper desk, footrest and typist's chair). There is the anger, rumbling constantly under the surface, from the lack of faith by publishers and literary agents.

In addition, there…

High-speed connection?

Posted on November 25, 2010 at 3:54am 0 Comments

Due to the inevitable recent cutbacks, one or two doubts have been expressed about the proposed high-speed rail line planned for the London to Swansea route. On top of this, we have the unwelcome new rail fares. On the one hand, we are being encouraged to be eco-conscious and abandon private transport for public transport and, on the other, the rail companies are raising rail fares by enormous amounts. Those of us who do not have cars and rely on the railways and other public transport…

And don't call Will on your father...

Posted on November 15, 2010 at 3:17am 0 Comments

I started thinking about Ryan Davies the other day and wondered whether there were any DVDs available of either Ryan a Ronnie or How Green Was My Father. As the latter was repeated on TV many years after Ryan's death, one imagines it must be about somewhere in the archives. There's a snippet of it on:

I know I'm not the only…

So, I have a weird question. If you were to pick up a historical fantasy that portrays Paulinus as an evil guy with loads of magic and gets killed off in the end, would you totally hate it?

Have you thougth of getting an agent here? It could help your with your distribution/exposure. My book is supposed to be delivered between 16 and 18. I can't wait! I will link your website on my FB page!

Wanted you to know that I emailed your publisher asking if there were any plans to distribute here in the U.S. I saw you have a second book planned. Let me know when it is available. I'll want that one too!

Thank you, and yes..it is hard. Maria Snyder said she had over 30 rejections before she happened on an agent and a book deal. She has released in UK, Australia, and New Zealand, I think. It will come. It is good you were able to by-pass and get a publisher. I'm just starting the process, so we will see what happens. They just promoted me to Asst. Principal at the school I work for and I am afraid I won't have much time to write or persue an agent, but I will find a way! I've ordered your book through Amazon. Can't get it here any other way. I'll keep you posted. Can't wait to read it, and so is my daughter!

Thanks for the "gift". I have Barnes and Noble looking for your book. I just received my first rejection from the agent :(. So, I am sending it out to others this weekend. I am doing another read through. I cut close to 50,000 words! but it is stronger and more action packed than before. I'll let you know when I get your book.
