Comment by Alan Evans on March 2, 2012 at 3:37pm Excellent concert this evening for St David's Day. Cor Mynydd Mawr, Corran Singers and Angharad Thomas. I will be uploading some music and video from the evening.
Comment by Alan Evans on March 1, 2012 at 5:06pm St Clears was alive with the sound of Welsh music on St. David’s Day. Jerry’s Celtic Quintet was playing outside Annie’s café on Pentre Road for most of the afternoon. They were joined by plenty of Welsh ladies in costume including Betty Fach who was wearing a 200-year-old hat, which belonged to her great great grandmother. Locals and visitors alike were treated to cawl and welshcakes. The event was also broadcast live on St Clears TV with plenty of Americans tuning in to see the celebrations. Organiser Alan Evans said ‘This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase St Clears to a large American audience.’ ‘We filmed most of the afternoon interviewing local people and showing the world what St. David’s Day is all about.’ ‘The American audience had joined us even though it was 4 a.m. in the morning for them.’ ‘As the day went on more and more Americans joined in the live chat making very complimentary comments about our event.’ ‘One lady said she had been reduced to tears having shared in some real Welsh culture never having been to Wales herself.’ ‘It was quite strange to be standing outside Y Gat chatting live to people in Florida, New York, Texas, California and Portland and reading their comments out to the audience.’ ‘People came forward to read comments and then type their own messages.’ ‘This was a community experiment in live TV and social streaming.’ ‘We were absolutely blown away by the response.’ ‘The café was buzzing with activity with young and old alike joining in the dancing and singing.’ ‘We owe a debt of gratitude to all our American friends for supporting the event.’ ‘It was all done on a budget of under £100 provided by the St Clears Times, which is a local charitable organisation.’ ‘The musicians some of whom were members of the Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra gave their time for free.’ St Clears TV and radio has more events planned and they are looking for volunteers to get involved with the development. Visit www.stclearstimes.com to volunteer or visit www.ustream.tv/channel/st-clears-tv to watch a podcast of the show.

I just left a message (at least I think I did) for Swansea Jack. He had said something at some point about trying to view the great Gareth Edwards in action. I suggested a video/tape that a friend in Wales sent me: "Wales, The Crowning Years." It is wonderful.
Comment by Ceri Shaw on February 29, 2012 at 3:45pm Pretty much yes

Comment by Alan Evans on February 29, 2012 at 3:34pm Running Order:
12GMT Live from Annie's Cafe St Clears for St David's Day
Presenter Alan Evans Welcome and outline of schedule
Live chat with some of the residents of St Clears including Welsh ambassador Beti Fach. Beti travels all over the world in her Welsh costume, which her grandmother gave her. Well known in Patagonia and Brittany Beti has a lot to say.
What is the best recipe for Welshcakes? We all have our own. We hear from local experts, ladies who pride themselves on their Welshcakes.
Jerry is a member of the Cardiff philharmonic Orchestra. He has put together a Celtic quartet especially for St David's Day and Americymru. We will be hearing the wonderful sound of the quartet along with some guest appearances by other musicians.
We have some pre recorded material to fill in, which shows St Clears. The programme will be a mixture of live chat and conversation but it won't be Ophra.
We are doing this as a community experiment on a budget of £0 and with one guy operating it all on Heath Robinson set up. It just might be so bad that it is good.
Please stop by and just say hello to the folks here in St Clears. Comment on our films and hopefully make a few friends. This is what Wales used to be like. Full of chat, communities communicating and sharing. Best of all, it is St. David's Day.
Comment by Ceri Shaw on February 29, 2012 at 2:51pm Brief program details here for St David's Day bash. Please help circulate and dont forget to set the alarm
Comment by Alan Evans on February 11, 2012 at 3:21pm Thanks Ceri. All going well. Jerry and the band are practicing. Welsh music, scottish fiddle and Irish jigs. Should be great. We have people stopping by to say hello and wish the folks on Americymru Happy St David's Day. I will be using live chat and social stream so folks can type their messages and we can read them out. Of course if they want to send them in advance they can message me. I will read all I can out. So if they have folks here in West Wales, it is a great chance to say hi. We will also be podcasting the programme for some time to come afterwards.
Comment by Ceri Shaw on February 11, 2012 at 2:44pm Hi Alan
I've added this page to the top level navbar so its linked from every page on the site and will push hard nearer the date.
Comment by Alan Evans on February 10, 2012 at 2:37pm Anybody have any experience using multiple web cams from one laptop? Can it be done? I am also looking for a decent microphone for a macbook pro to pick up the music. The inbuilt isn't brilliant. Welcome any suggestions.
Comment by Alan Evans on February 10, 2012 at 2:10pm We are pre recording some performances by Jerry and his celtic quartet next week. Should be a hoot. Lots of Welsh - Irish - Scottish music. Also doing a David Garland Jones with some green screen work. Love to see David here in St Clears for a live performance. Who knows eh. Tune in on March 1st, it could be spectacular or a disaster. Either way ot will be entertaining.
