Brechfa, a tiny village in Carmarthenshire, has been in existence since the 6th century and currently has a population of about 300. The Forest Arms, the village pub, was once a popular place to eat out but has been closed for several years and is up for auction next month. In the meantime, the chapel has closed and the falling population means that the school has also been shut down. Late last week, the villagers' effort failed - they came up with less than 50% of the needed funds: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-18798182 .
I'm not surprised, but it is a sad reflection on the times. Let's hope they will rally around the new owner. Maybe an invitation to Professor Twaddle for the Grand re-opening may help!
