We are looking at the possibility of a Poetry competition on Wednesday night. And an end of Eisteddfod musical event.. We are also looking at organising a series of readings in libraries and colleges for our visiting authors. Other events to be announced as plans mature but we are not planning anything else on the night of Thursday the 7th.

Ceri,

Will there be any other activities occurring at the same time?

I should add that we are strongly advising people to buy tickets in advance when they become available. The venue's maximum capacity is 125 and we will be promoting the event heavily for the next six months. Tickets will be available at the Brown Paper Tickets site or directly from Americymru when they go on sale this weekend.

Advance Notice

We will shortly be posting details of the first 2010 Left Coast Eisteddfod live competition. This will take place at the Buffalo Gap on Thurs October 7th between 5pm and Midnight. It will consist of a live narrative competition for which we will be looking to recruit 20 contestants. There will be no restrictions on narrative style or content although competitiors must tell a story of some kind. Each contestant will have 8 minutes at the mic and there will be a first prize of $250 and a second prize of $100. There will be no registration fee although all competitiors will be required to pay the standard $6 dollar admission fee. You need not be a member of Americymru to attend or compete. We may also include a movie and some musical entertainment on the program. Watch this space for further details. The competition will be judged by Niall Griffiths and Chris Keil ( and others to be announced ) . Highlights will be recorded for posterity and hosted on the Americymru website. Full details will be announced shortly on this site and tickets will be available from this weekend.

Beginning here in Americymru, maybe we could create Welsh Heritage Societies for some nearby states and provinces? I am thinking of Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Washington, California, and Nevada? That would be a good beginning IMHO. Anyone else? Well, that is up to you all, eh?

We should be making some announcements about the LCE later today or tomorrow.

I'll be attending the 2010 LCE Eisteddfod and, hopefully, more functions in the future. It would be fun to get to know some Oregonians on this site beforehand.

Oregon Member join in and let's get acquainted
