I enjoyed reading about your Welsh roots Mona, never asked you out in Portland. You all need to hear a Welsh Quaker story.   This information took 2 years to unearth in it's present form, and I'm…Read more →

Start with your (Welsh) ancestors (if you have any) and work forward--how did you end up where you are? I'll go first. (Since no one else knows I'm asking this question yet, that'll be easy!) My…Read more →

More than months - that's a long time without comment on the WALDO Map - we must have had several dozen new members to AC in that period. Time for them - and all 'old' members - to spin the top globe and see if they are located on it - or in the spreadsheet.

Thanks, SJ--I was clicking on "Current Residence" at the top of the sheet! Got it!
Comment by Swansea Jack on January 18, 2012 at 12:21pm

mona: If you look at the Current Residence’ tag (see bottom of spreadsheet) and click on that, it will bring up the entries sorted thus:

Country

City (with included state / province)

-example:

Canada – London, ONT

Canada – Wiinipeg, MAN

. . .

USA - Akron, OH

USA – Denver, CO

-         but I do NOT have the data entered exactly they way you requested.

Also, note that this spreadsheet includes ONLY those locations shown on the WALDO Map – about 600 or so – NOT the total AmeriCymru membership, which is close to 2,800.

If you want to give Ninnau a list of where ALL AC members are located, you could search ‘Members’ and get a ‘by-country’ idea that way; but don’t expect to get reliable or complete state / province data  easily

Is there a way you can send me the Spreadsheet sorted by country and then state/province? I am doing an article for Ninnau about AC and want to include where the members are from.

Thanks!

Mona
PS--you will have to send it to my personal email, not my AC inbox.

OMG - there's a big fat whiskery bugger in a red suit pounding on my front door. Wonder who it could be at this time of night.

I'd better check in with NORAD at http://www.noradsanta.org/en/index.html

in case there's been a terrorist or an alien invasion.

Looks like 'fatso' he may be carrying a suspicious package on his back - let me take a closer look:

Oh, thank God for that, it's just Santa!   He’s 30 minutes early though!

Merry Christmas everybody!

Now NORAD shows that Santa has already been as far west as Detroit, MI, Indianapolis, IN and Louisville, KY - but I think it was just to fuel up in the town of Santa Claus, Indiana. Now he just went back to New York. maybe too much egg nog in that sleigh, I'm thinking?

SANTA is on his way.  He will be on the East Coast of the USA in about 80 minutes!  He just left Trinidad - where he no doubt heard this song:

Mary's Boy Child

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qBNaSkb5lQ

Track him across the USA here:

1. On NORAD  - a great site containing photsos and videos of where Santa has been already - or

2. On the WALDO Map above. This IS the perfect place - 'cos it shows where SANTA's Ex-pats, Natives, 1st-Gens and Cymruphiles are located around the globe.

New to AmeriCymru, not on the WALDO Map or spreadsheet but want to be?   respond here.  Be sure to indicate your 'status' - Ex-pat, Native, 1st-Gen, Welsh ancestors, ot just interested in Wales / Welsh stwff. If an Ex-pat, tell us where (town) you were born.

Want to be taken off the map and s/s?    - respond here.

As promised, and with the National Eisteddfod in Wrexham now concluded, I have removed the Pink Pavilion icons from the current residence location of Wrexham Ex-pats, though will keep that icon on Wrexham in honor of hosting the event.

So now - also as promised, in honor of the kick-off (pun absolutely intended) off the 'Footie' season in the UK today, I have posted on the map, at their current residence locations, icons of the 'Big-time Welsh Footie Clubs': Cardiff City, Newport County, Swansea City and Wrexham.

Go look on the WALDO MAP and see which AmeriCymru members live there.

Geraint Watts of Phoenix, AZ got tired of residing inside ET's head on the WALDO Map and updated his profile to let us know he is an Ex-pat from Cardiff. We have a few of them here, don't we?

Prior to the update, we only knew he was an Ex-pat - but no idea from which town or place in Wales.

Thanks for the update, Geraint. (Nice romantic profile story, too!)

Now, all we need is the other 3 dozen or so Ex-pats in ET's head (out there in the Pacific) to reveal from whence they came. ;-)

Set yourselves free, mun!
