Help this tree

grow - one Llymeric at a time.

Limericks, reportedly had their origin in Ireland and owe most of their poularity to an Englishman. Now it is time for you sons and daughters of Welsh bards to compose some 'Welsh-flavored' Lymerics'.

Five Simple Rules:

1. Follow the basic precepts of Limericks - see the Wikipedia link for help
2. Each Llymeric must contain only one line by any 'bard' (Modified - 7/11/10)
3. Post your Llymeric, with a unique name, in the Start Discussion section
4. Keep it clean - your grandmother may be a member!
5. A 'true' Llymeric would contain some reference to Wales or the Welsh - Enjoy!

Be sure to post your 1 line contribution in the 'Reply to this Discussion' section, NOT on the 'Comment Wall'

Conversely, be sure to post 'comments' (other than Llymerics or lines of a Llymeric) on the , 'Comment Wall', NOT in the 'Reply to this Discussion' section.

Example

Five Welshmen

One Welshman wrote the first line,
And a second decided ‘twas fine
But a third said “Not so”
As the fourth bellowed “Whoa!”
A fifth asked him, “Why do you whine?”

After the 5th line has been added, the completed Llymeric (with attributions) will be posted and the Discussion closed. Some 'amendments' may be made in the 'Completed' version if syllabic or meter enhancements warrant. Such 'amendments' will be underscored to highlight the changes from the original - which may be a sinple as spelling or word order adjustments.

However, any Bard ( other than the 5 chaired bards) may provide an alternate 5th lineby by creating a Discussion titled "(Original name) Redux" and typing in all 5 lines (cut and paste is easier)

Added (July 12th, 2010) - OK - as there has been so little activity in this Group lately, I guess we should open it up to include:

A) - such as in one recent offering - post an entire Llymeric youself, or
B) - complete any number * of the remaining lines of any Llymeric yourself - but please wait for at least two (2) days from your prior reply before exercising this option.

* add just one, or more lines - even if you started or have already contributed to the Llymeric

-in either case, go ahead, unconstrained by Rule 2!

That completed Llymeric will then get a 'Complete - Solo' or a 'Complete - Finally!' tag, but may still be used in a 'Redux' scenario.

However, also feel free to compose, or contribute to, Llymerics as was originally proposed - with a single line. They'll be tagged 'Complete - by 5'' and 'true' *with a Welsh flavor) Llymerics will be tagged with a '*'

Unhindered creativity is our goal!

An excellent response (to yesterday's plea for contibutions) came this morning from Dilwyn Jeffreys Phillips. Buenos dias, Senor; gracias!

We had 7 unfinished Llymerics;DJP provided the required 5th line to two of them. Each of the 7 will be presented in their (in)completeness - after I have had my breakfast. In the meantime, ponder:

On seven short poems we waited

Whilst members, they ponderously debated

'Should I add one more line,

Or not? Is that fine?

Dread not! No one's e'er been berated!

Give us your best - no matter how bad it may be !

Can you count, and make words rhyme?   Then there's no reason to not participate here. There's a couple of Llymerics need just 1 or 2 lines to 'Complete' them.

Surely one of the 28 other members can find a line (or two) for one of these Llymerics?

There are 4 LLYMERICS desperately in need of a line - or 3 - calling all members!   Non-members, how about stepping in and showing us what you have to offer too?

Three Lymerics are languishing - help them along, please.

Dilwyn would like to see more participants in Llymerics - he's running low on rhymes!

It has that appearance, but maybe someone out there will jump in.
